EDUCATION BILLS (2023-24)

Investing in Massachusetts residents’ formative years is essential to health and academic achievement. That’s why I’ve introduced a bill to ensure that educational programs serving our youngest are well-funded and set up to succeed.

Support high quality pre-k education

H. 566 An Act ensuring high quality pre-kindergarten education

Ensuring quality pre-kindergarten education is essential to academic achievement, public health, and economic growth. Currently, through the Commonwealth Preschool Partnerships Initiative (CPPI), the Department of Early Education and Care awards grants to cities, towns, regional school districts, or educational collaboratives to expand high-quality pre-kindergarten or preschool opportunities. If passed, this bill would extend CPPI indefinitely to support the implementation of high quality pre-kindergarten programs by investing in a high quality, mixed-delivery early education system in order to reduce the achievement gap and improve third-grade reading scores.
